How do I get there?

You can arrive to Resolution Bay by walking, cycling or via the local ferry departing from Picton.
We recommend using the Cougarline or Beachcomber ferries, they will drop you either directly at our jetty or at Ship Cove.
If you ware wanting to walk in, you can ferry your luggage separately so it is at your accommodation on your arrival.

Can I walk to RBC?

Yes, we are the first stop on the Queen Charlotte track when walking from North to South from the Ship Cove drop off point approx 2hours.

Additionally, private vehicles can be driven to the head of Kenepuru Sound and join the QC Track at Camp Bay, Endeavour Inlet. RBC is approx 20km (6<>7 hour walk).

Booking Fee / Cancellations / Refunds

A 50% deposit is due at time of booking to secure your reservation.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. However, as a small business, cancellations made at short notice can significantly affect our operations. We therefore appreciate timely notice of any cancellations or booking changes.

21 days before arrival: full refund

14 days: partial refund (at discretion of Resolution Bay)

Within 7 days: non-refundable

No-show: 100% charged

How do I pay?

A 50% deposit is due at time of booking to secure your reservation, paid into our bank account.

For any purchases on-site, we have full eftpos and credit card facilities, and also take cash.

What is there to do at Resolution Bay?

Resolution Bay is a place to create your own enjoyment.
Explore the local glow worm grotto, feed the tame fish from our jetty, or take a short walk to School House Bay or Kamahi Cove and spend a while relaxing on the beach.

Take a paddle around the bay in one of our complimentary kayaks, or simply sit back in the sunshine and enjoy the peace and quiet with a glass of vino and a good book.

Is Power available?

Our four Kiwi Baches have full-time electric power.

Of the trampers’ huts, only Pukeko has electricity. The remaining huts do not have power; however, battery lanterns are provided for your use. We also recommend bringing a headtorch for added convenience.

Will my cell phone work? Is there wifi?

There is poor cellular coverage around the camp – but there are some spots where you might get enough to send a text or upload some photos.


Guest Wifi is free 24/7, however can only be accessed when in proximity of the reception / shop.


There is a landline which can be used by arrangement.

Can I charge my phone, camera batteries?

The Kiwi Baches have power outlets available for guest use.

For guests staying in the trampers’ huts, communal power outlets are available in the cookhouse and at reception.

Are there washing & drying facilities?

Each bach and trampers’ hut has a hand basin for washing, and clotheslines are located in the common areas for air drying the natural way.

We also have a washer and dryer available for guest use for a small fee. Please enquire at reception for details

Will I have to share with others in the Trampers Hut?

No you will not have to share a trampers hut.

Are meals available?

We can provide you with dinner, breakfast and a packed lunch by arrangement. Meals are farm house style using fresh local ingredients and served in the Common Room in the Main House.

We have a small shop that carry a limited range of basic food items.


Online orders can be made at Picton Supervalue and delivered the following day using Cougarline.

Do I need to spend a night in Picton before heading to Resolution Bay?

No you don’t. Whether you are arriving by plane, Cook Strait ferry or private car, provided you arrive into Picton by late morning and depart same day using the Cougarline 1.30pm service you will be dropped directly to our jetty by about 3.15pm, or dropped at Ship Cove at 3.00pm which allows you sufficient time to walk to RB for your first night on the QC Track.
